The cemetery administrator in Halmstad plans on using the heat gained from crematoriums as a source of heating for their facilities, and in the future maybe even the whole town. He states that it's a waste of energy and affects the environment in a negative way.
Well, it could be a good idea and a way of saving the environment... but I wouldn't be comfortable knowing that I don't have to be cold because someone died. I think that you should show some respect to the deceased, and not take advantage of them. I see this as morally wrong.
As of now this is just a thought, they haven't got the suggestion approved yet. I'm unsure whether it will or not, to be honest.
I think there are better ways to save the environment. I don't know if this would really contribute a lot either, maybe in the long run but it still won't be much if there's only one city using the method. They should try other things instead if they feel like preserving our nature, for example taking the bus or bicycle instead of the car or changing to low-energy lamps.
I didn't find anyone else who brought this subject up on their blog, but there are comments on the article. Not a single one of them were serious, either referring to WW2 or making puns.
